The Advisory Board 

The task of the Advisory Board is to advise the Dutch DPA regarding the general policy lines for the Dutch DPA and other general aspects regarding the protection of personal data.

The Advisory Board convenes at least twice a year and makes recommendations regarding the policy intentions and annual report.

The members of the Advisory Board are appointed by the Minister of Justice on the recommendation of the Dutch DPA. The members come from different social sectors.

The position, tasks and work method of the Advisory Board have been set forth in the Administrative Regulations of the Dutch DPA.

The Advisory Board has the following members:

  • R.J.G. Bandell, former major of Dordrecht, former chairman of the Dutch Society of Majors
  • H.G.M. Blocks, advisor/director, former director of the Netherlands Bankers’Association
  • H.W. Broeders, managing director Capgemini
  • H.C.J. van den Burg, former member European Parliament and member Supervisory Board of ASML
  • B.R. Combée, director of Consumentenbond
  • E.J. Dommering, professor of information law at the University of Amsterdam
  • J.K.M. Gevers, professor of health law at the University of Amsterdam
  • R.J. Manschot, former Chief public prosector, former vice-chairman Eurojust, member of the Board of Amnesty International Netherlands
  • L.J.E. Smits, managing director of HEC (The Centre of Expertise), manager ROI Dutch Institute for Public Administration
  • G.M. de Vries, former terrorism-coordinator European Union and board member Court of Audit
