The Advisory Board 

The task of the Advisory Board is to advise the Dutch DPA regarding the general policy lines for the Dutch DPA and other general aspects regarding the protection of personal data.

The Advisory Board convenes at least twice a year and makes recommendations regarding the policy intentions and annual report.

The members of the Advisory Board are appointed by the Minister of Justice on the recommendation of the Dutch DPA. The members come from different social sectors.

The position, tasks and work method of the Advisory Board have been set forth in the Administrative Regulations of the Dutch DPA.

The Advisory Board has the following members:

  • T.A. Maas-de Brouwer, chairman, former member Supervisory Board of ABN-AMRO, former senator PvdA
  • H.G.M. Blocks, advisor/director, former director of the Netherlands Bankers’Association
  • H.W. Broeders, managing director Capgemini
  • H.C.J. van den Burg, member Supervisory Board of ASML and APG, member Monitoring Commission Corporate Governance, former member European Parliament and federation governing board FNV
  • B.R. Combée, director of Consumentenbond
  • E.J. Dommering, emeritus professor of information law at the University of Amsterdam
  • H.M. Dupuis, member of the Senate of the Dutch Parliament for the VVD (People's Party for Freedom and Democracy), as well as first vice-chair of the Senate of the Dutch Parliament, chair of two supervisory boards in the health care, emeritus professor medical ethics University of Leiden
  • T.H.J. Joustra, chairman Dutch Safety Board and former anti-terrorism coordinator
  • J. Legemaate, professor of health law at the University of Amsterdam
  • R.J. Manschot, member of The Netherlands gaming control board and former Chief public prosecutor
  • L.J.E. Smits, managing director of HEC (The Centre of Expertise), manager ROI Dutch Institute for Public Administration
  • A.A. Westerlaken, member board Erasmus MC
  • A. Wolfsen, mayor of Utrecht
  • L.J. Wijngaarden, psychologist, government commissioner SNS Reaal and other social companies, former CEO Postbank and CEO Nationale Nederlanden
