Requests for information

The Dutch DPA is often approached with requests for advice regarding the interpretation of the Wbp or other privacy legislation.

The most frequently received standard requests are handled by the front office as part of the task of informing the public. The general information material may be supplemented on the basis of these requests. This material is also made available on this web site:

In addition, requests are received which justify more detailed treatment, an in-depth study or a clear statement of the Dutch DPA’s position on principle. When such requests are received, the appropriate way to handle the request is systematically assessed.

The Dutch DPA has considerable policy freedom in these cases. Particularly in the case of requests for information, the Dutch DPA aims to let other social organisations play a significant role.
