Article 29 Working Party 

The Working Party derives its name from Article 29 of the European Privacy Directive 95/46/EC. All supervisory authorities in the European Union and the European Economic Area take part in this Working Party that plays an important role in the establishment of European policy.

The tasks of the Working Party contribute to the development of European standards and common interpretations and also, in a number of cases, to awareness at an international level.

As from 2010, the chairman of the Dutch DPA, Jacob Kohnstamm, is chairman; Artemi Rallo (Spain) en Michal Serzycki (Poland) are vice-chairmen.

The most recent annual report of the Working Party was the 2008 report. This report includes a summary of the privacy development in the different countries and at a European Union level:
Twelfth annual report on the situation regarding the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and privacy in the European Union and in third countries covering the year 2008.
