An educational institute has a great deal of personal data regarding its students. Every educational institute and many pupils and students deal with the Informatie Beheer Groep (IBG; Information Management Group). The IBG is an independent administrative body, which implements acts and regulations in the area of education at the instruction of the Minister of Education, Science and Cultural Affairs. In the interest of all parties, they regularly exchange personal data. All data regarding a student are stored under a personal number. This requires clear rules in order to safeguard that the risk of misuse and improper use is kept to a minimum.
